Purpose of consultation

Fife is committed to ensuring that the needs of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (sometimes known as ‘Condition’ – ASC) are met; to assist with this Fife Council and NHS Fife created the position of ASD Co-ordinator in 2008.

It is recognised that meeting these needs is a shared role; with knowledge and understanding of Autism central to:

  • increasing confidence and individual capacity
  • informing the way in which services are organised and delivered
  • effectively identifying and responding to the needs of individuals
  • recognising and addressing sibling and family needs

A brief Training Needs Questionnaire (TNQ) has, therefore, been developed (link below) to assist effectively assess and address local Autism training needs: across all sectors, including generic community-based services (employers, leisure and recreational, clubs, colleges, G.P.s, dentists etc.), parents / carers, siblings, people with Autism and others.

The TNQ is an ‘active’ questionnaire; where regular 4 monthly sweeps will be made. This will assist in capturing as broad a picture of training needs as possible; where we are at; where there are gaps; and enabling us to work together in effectively identifying ways to address them.

To keep you updated on progress, please provide a contact e-mail address within the TNQ. (Your details will be kept securely and used solely for the use of communicating with you in relation to this exercise and other local Autism initiatives i.e. distribution of Fife’s Autism Newsletter).

Looking forward very much to hearing from you.

Sincere thanks for your assistance.

Stella Macdonald (ASD Co-ordinator)
