During the initial period of lockdown, from March 2020, NHS Fife was inundated with offers of help and support from the local community. This ranged from companies which raised money for our Endowment fund, to offers from local people volunteering support during the crisis. It included a very large one-off financial donation which was unprecedented in NHS Fife and much appreciated.

We also had offers of additional PPE and generous donations to benefit our staff, often in the form of food and drinks and other items which helped them get through.

All of this support was greatly appreciated and we simply can’t thank you enough for this support.

In order to respond to your queries and continued offers here is some information to assist:

Fundraising

If you would like to fundraise for NHS Fife, money can be donated to our charity the Fife Health Board Endowment Fund through its Just Giving page.

Fundraising through our Just Giving page will enable you to easily claim additional gift aid donations, potentially adding 25p to every £1 you fundraise.

We can also accept cheques payable to Fife Health Board Endowment Fund. These can be sent to:

Site Cashier
Victoria Hospital
Hayfield Road
Kirkcaldy
KY2 5AH

If you would like to make an electronic bank transfer please contact [email protected].

Donations for staff

We are being asked if items such as hand cream and snacks for staff can be donated. Items such as these and any non cooked food that does not need refrigerated can be dropped off for staff at the side door to the dining room on the Victoria hospital site. Please mark it as 'for staff' and refer to this map for the location of the dining room.

Items can be dropped off at the side door of the dining room between 8am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. The dining room is building "CM" on the map and is best accessed via gate 5. The back door is opposite building CL on the map.

The items for staff are collected at these sites and then distributed more widely to staff.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Due to the coverage on national news about the challenges governments are having sourcing PPE there have been many offers of 3D printed or laser cut visors. As these alternative items have not gone through rigorous quality testing they are not suitable for every clinical area but could be useable within some of our services.

We ask that a sample of the visor is dropped off with the contact details for the maker, as well as an approximate number of how many visors can be made, to our distribution hub at Whyteman’s Brae gym, off Hayfield Road. It is located in the left hand corner of the car park and is open Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm.

Any other donations of PPE such as goggles, masks and aprons would help our stocks. These can be handed into the same distribution hub.

Crafted items

We are linked in with For the Love of Scrubs Facebook page who are supplying us with the items that we require.

Items that we unfortunately can’t accept are; linen / cloth homemade masks and home baking.
