Fire & Rescue Transition Committee
Terms of Reference
The terms of reference and functions of the Fire and Rescue Transition Committee are to discharge the responsibilities of the Council under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 including:-
- to provide comments on any Strategic Plan prepared by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service;
- to consider and, if appropriate, approve the Local Fire and Rescue Plan for Fife prepared by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service;
- monitoring and providing feedback to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on the way fire and rescue services are delivered in Fife and, in particular:-
- identifying any matters of concern relating to the operation of Fire and Rescue Services in Fife;
- making recommendations for the improvement of Fire and Rescue Services in Fife;
- making recommendations with regard to the content of the Local Fire and Rescue Plan for Fife
- keeping informed of fire and rescue matters relating to Fife and calling, as appropriate, for reports from the Local Senior Officer in relation to the carrying out of fire and rescue functions within Fife;
- to provide advice or comments in response to any consultation involving the Council regarding the organisation, management or regulation of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service including responding to any consultation regarding the appointment of a Local Senior Officer for Fife;
- overseeing the arrangements for an orderly transition to the national Fire Service, ensuring the interests of Fife are safeguarded beyond the point of transfer.
