Scotland's First Gold Passive House Project
Bryan Hay of Fife Housing Association and Ron Beattie of Beattie Passive were delighted to follow-up on a meeting last year with Keith Brown by welcoming him to the Gold Standard Passive House project in Inchkeith Drive, Dunfermline . The project will deliver the first Gold Standard Passive Houses in without the additional costs normally associated with Passive housing.
Bryan Hay said: “Many of our tenants find themselves in fuel poverty. Without concerted action, this will only get worse due to widely predicted increases in utility bills. Providing Passive properties with minimal energy bills per annum will help eradicate fuel poverty and improve the quality of life for our customers. We specifically did not want a trial concept house, but rather a system we could immediately move on to the next project. This is the fundamental reason why we are delighted to work with Beattie Passive.
Amongst the other major aims of the project being delivered was to provide young adults with training and employment opportunities. The simple nature of this system and construction technique, and the fact that it can be easily replicated, has already provided young adults with employment opportunities and new skills, not only applicable in housing projects but throughout the construction industry. The project has used local trainees as part of the construction team. The frames were constructed off-site at the renewable centre in Kirkcaldy, and the trainees were identified in partnership with Fife Council.”
