Yoga is non-competitive, it is not about what anyone else is doing in the class. It is about YOU, being in tune with your own body, listening and responding accordingly. Knowing how far you can limit, or extend a movement to work safely and to ensure you get the optimum benefits from your practice.
What does the class entail?
Each session starts with a relaxation that helps calm the mind and create focus. We gently move on to warming the body up before working deeper into the asanas (postures) practice.
Unlike most forms of exercise, in yoga the movement is integrated with the breath to help create a sense of calm and focus as we work deeper in the practice.
Every session finishes with a long relaxation/meditation.
What style of yoga is it?
Every teacher, no matter what tradition they trained in, has their own teaching style. I have practised many different traditions of yoga including Iyengar, Satyananda, Vini Yoga (now aYs) and Ashtanga. My own teaching style calls upon these experiences while trying to ensure that there is a rhythm and flow to the class.

Children's Yoga
What is Yoga Kids?
Who is their teacher and what is her background?
I have now been teaching yoga in schools throughout Fife for the past 4 years .......... and loving it!
I qualified through Yoga Scotland (National Governing Body for Yoga in Scotland) in 2001. In 2004, I gained my teaching certificate, through the British Wheel of Yoga, to Teach Children Yoga.
With qualifications and training that are accredited by national Sports Council I am a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals* at Advanced Instructor Level (3).
I have also completed the Sports Leadership Courses TOP Play/TOP Sport and Sportability . I am on the Child Protection Committee for Yoga Scotland and have recently written Yoga Scotland.s Child Protection Policy (www.yogascotland.org.uk) which has now been adopted. I am also an active committee member of the Fife Yoga Group.
For 11 years, in addition to my yoga teaching, I worked in childcare and education advising and supporting on matters relating to the curriculum and aspects of management of childcare centres.
In late 2005, I took the decision to move on from my career to take yoga into schools to enable children to access yoga as a safe means to a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
