What is urgent care?

Urgent care is for anyone requiring urgent medical care that cannot wait until their GP surgery re-opens. We ensure that the people of Fife can get urgent medical help in the following ways:

  • via telephone or video consultation
  • an urgent care centre appointment (in person)
  • if appropriate, a home visit

We are the service that is responsible for providing high quality care all over Fife (which is approximately 400,000 people) when their doctor's surgery is closed.

How to contact us

  • You can contact Urgent Care via NHS 24 on freephone 111

Once NHS 24 has triaged you, they will transfer your case electronically to our Urgent Care Hub.  A call handler team will then allocate your care to the most appropriate healthcare professional. You will then be offered:

  • either a consultation via telephone or video
  • an appointment in person at Urgent Care centres or
  • where appropriate, a home visit
