Describe your educational experiences to date and outline your suitability to undertake an Honours degree, if you have not been in education for a considerable time, describe how your professional experiences have prepared you for Honours level study.
The podiatry service provides a comprehensive prevention and early intervention service to the population of Fife. This is delivered throughout the region from a network of Community Clinics and Hospitals, in people’s own homes or in homely settings (Care Homes).
We aim to deliver high quality care to patients and their carers through triage, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of foot and lower limb and conditions. Our service is patient centred encouraging self care when appropriate and working together to develop individual management plans where these are indicated. Our service focuses on saving limbs and the management and treatment of complex foot and ankle musculoskeletal conditions.
There are excellent clinical facilities and experienced teams to work in who will support you in your learning and to develop your skills. As a valuable member of the team, you will join a department of dedicated professionals.
This employment is offered on the successful undertaking of a 4 year training period and as such successful candidates must meet the eligibility criteria to undertake the graduate degree as offered by Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). PREPARE and GCU’s flexible entry policies allows for relevant work experience and prior learning and/or credits from recognised professional bodies to be considered towards entry requirements if you do not have typical academic entry qualifications. Trainees are paid a percentage of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate which is dependent on the duration of the training period (see Terms and Conditions).
Band 5 (Annex 21) £22598 - £28248 during development: increasing to £30229 – £37664 on completion of programme.
The PREPARE Trainee posts, employed on an Annex 21, recognise that conventional routes of accessing higher education may not be open to all due to existing life or financial commitments or the inability to relocate to study. PREPARE Trainees will be supported to undertake and fully participate in GCU on campus delivery up to 3 days per week with the remaining 2 days being integrated into the Podiatry service across Fife during term time. During non-term time, PREPARE trainees will be integrated 5 days per week. Allowing for exposure to service based requirements and patient facing care to further embed and enhance knowledge and skills.
Continuation of employment to a substantive band 5 post will be subject to successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Podiatry and registration as a Podiatrist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
