Hospice Garden at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.

What: A courtyard area at Queen Margaret Hospital has been revamped into a therapeutic garden space for hospice patients
Where: Accessed through Phase 2 Main Entrance at Queen Margaret Hospital, the courtyard is near to X-ray, on level 1.
Why: To provide patients with a peaceful, outdoor space in which to spend time with relatives and friends
How: Queen Margaret Hospice garden Group designed and created the area
How much: £42,000 from the Fife Health Charity with additional funds raised by Queen Margaret Hospice Garden Group.

The creation of the fully accessible garden has been a collaboration between NHS Fife and the community-led Queen Margaret Garden Group. The unused courtyard space has been transformed into a dedicated therapeutic garden for hospice patients and their friends and families. It has been designed with pathways, seating areas, a memory tree and sculptures. It also contains two shelters large enough for a bed to go under. Local businesses have also supported the initiative.
