I don’t need to do testing because I’ve already been vaccinated
Vaccination provides very good levels of protection; however, it is still possible to catch COVID-19.
Regular testing helps to detect people with COVID-19 who don’t have symptoms but who could still be passing it on to others. Testing also helps build an understanding of levels of the virus within a community.
I’ve heard that Lateral Flow Device (LFD) tests aren’t reliable
UK Government data shows LFD tests to be accurate and reliable, with very low false positive rates.
What’s the point of doing an LFD test regularly, can’t I just do a PCR test?
If you don’t have COVID-19 symptoms LFD testing is quicker and there’s no need to book an appointment. All our Community Testing sites are available to drop-in during opening hours.
And if you visit one of our Community Testing sites and your LFD test is positive you can get a confirmatory PCR test on-site without having to make an appointment.
I’m really busy, I don’t have time to test
Try to build twice-weekly testing into your routine.
The test is quick to do – it takes less than a minute. If you attend a Community Testing site in Fife you’ll have your results within 15 minutes.
And if you can’t get to a site you can pick up an LFD Collect home testing kit at community pharmacies or order online for home delivery here. Kits are also available at all testing sites across Fife.
I don’t want to pay for a test
LFD testing at Community Testing sites and LFD Collect home testing kits are free.
Please note that we do not provide testing for holiday travel.
