The all new orthopaedic centre, will provide outpatient areas, inpatient, and short stay wards as well as a 3-theatre surgical complex. It will provide patient care for those with musculoskeletal conditions and surgery for patients with orthopaedic conditions. This life changing surgery will be performed by an exceptional multidisciplinary team to enhance the lives of patients in Fife and beyond.
Team NTC comprises consultants, surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses, as well as a host of support staff, carrying out critical administrative roles to ensure the smooth running of the centre. These are the staff that will welcome the first patients on Day 1, when the doors open on the new facility in early Spring 2023.

They will share their excitement and ambition for the new centre, taking pride in their newfound ability to offer treatment to patients in a state-of-the-art facility which boasts future proof technology. These patients will be seen in a superior theatre setting which boasts the first dedicated integrated theatres in Scotland. ‘Integrated’ refers to the way digital images are visible all around the theatres so that surgical teams can position images from cameras, monitors, or arthroscopic equipment on the most suitable screens for best results.

Over time, staff here will witness the introduction of new technologies such as robotic assisted surgery for hip and knee replacements and advances in intra operative imaging.
The National Treatment Centre will be at the heart of both emergency and planned care in Fife and as such, will offer fantastic opportunities for those wishing to join the clinical team. There will be excellent learning opportunities for new staff in how to manage Orthopaedic patients and unique professional and development plans for nursing staff keen to develop orthopaedic skills.
The Outpatient Department will deliver consultant, nurse and AHP led clinics, seeing both elective and fracture/trauma outpatients, featuring innovative digital design to deliver excellent forward thinking care.
