Whilst 2016 has undoubtedly been a challenging year for NHS Fife, it has also been a year of significant progress. Throughout the year we raised our game across many key performance targets, underwent hospital inspections that brought improved results, and saw services come to national attention for transforming patient care.

None of this would have been possible without our most valuable resource; our staff.

Without you we wouldn’t have become one of the top performing Emergency Departments in Scotland.

Without you we wouldn’t have been able to reduce the number of people being unnecessarily admitted to hospital.

Without you we wouldn’t have been able to publish such an innovative new Clinical Strategy that was driven and shaped by staff.

It is a privilege to be the Chief Executive of an organisation with such dedicated, hard-working staff and I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all of your hard work throughout the year.

I wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Paul Hawkins

Chief Executive
