NHS Fife is using personalised music to improve the lives of those with dementia and their loved ones. We are working with the charity Playlist for Life to research the benefits of music when caring for people with dementia. To do this we are creating personalised music playlists on iPods and supporting people with dementia to listen to this music when in hospital. These musical favourites can tap deep memories not lost to dementia, and can enable an individual to feel like themselves again, converse. socialise, stay present and connect with familiy, friends and carers.
To do this we rely on donations of money, and donations of new and used equipment. If you have an old iPod you would like to donate please hand it in to any of the following drop off points:
1. Victoria Hospital Main Reception Phase 3
2. Queen Margaret Hospital Main Reception
3. Fife Dementia Resource Centre, Alzheimer Scotland, 2-14 Whytescauseway, (access via Kirkcaldy bus station)
4. Post to Helen Skinner (Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Nurse Consutlant), Office 3, Level 12, Phase 2, Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, KY2 5AH
Many thanks for your support.
