Benjamin Hannan

Mr Benjamin Hannan has been appointed as NHS Fife’s new Director of Pharmacy & Medicines.

Ben will take over from Scott Garden who will be leaving NHS Fife in Mid-February to take up a new post with NHS Lothian

Pharmacy is an important part of the NHS Fife healthcare family and as Director of Pharmacy & Medicines, Mr Hannan will be responsible for leading, directing and managing the pharmacy service on behalf of NHS Fife and the Fife Health & Social Care Partnership.

Ben joined NHS Fife in February 2020 as Chief Pharmacist, Acute Services and is currently Deputy Director for Pharmacy and Medicines at NHS Fife, where he has provided leadership and the vision to develop, implement and evolve an exciting and innovative programme of re-design and transformational change across the pharmacy service.

Ben graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and holds postgraduate diplomas and degrees from Queens University, Belfast, the University of Sunderland and the University of Birmingham. In 2020, Ben was appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, which is awarded to highly experienced senior managers operating at a strategic level, who are looking to share knowledge to support leadership and management development in others. Ben has developed a strong professional network across all sectors of pharmacy and the wider healthcare community in Fife.

“Following a rigorous recruitment process, we are delighted to have appointed Ben to the post of Director of Pharmacy and Medicines at NHS Fife.

"Ben has worked with NHS Fife for over two years, latterly as our Deputy Director of Pharmacy and Medicines and has been instrumental in driving forward a wide range of pharmacy and medicines initiatives, including the redesign of clinical pharmacy services, the roll-out of the first phase of the Covid Vaccination Programme and introduction of the Covid Outpatient Assessment Unit.”
