Today is International Day of the Midwife 2022 - a day where midwives across the world are celebrated.
Over the past two years, our midwives, maternity support workers and student midwives have encountered extraordinary circumstances and risen to unknown challenges to provide excellent care to women and their families.
Our Head of Midwifery, Pamela Galloway, said: "Happy International Day of the Midwife, this last year has continued to be challenging for our staff. The team have demonstrated commitment and professionalism throughout, continuing to support women and their families. Our Best Start Bethune team commenced continuity of care for women with an increased Body Mass Index (BMI). Our VIP team, Perinatal Mental health midwife, and Birth@Home team were also shortlisted for awards and our Nursery Nurses won the UK Practice Improvement Award. We are extremely fortunate in Fife to have such a high standard of innovative, dedicated midwifery and we thank each and every one of our NHS Fife Midwifery team for all their hard work."
