Over the next four weeks a mobile testing unit will visit Kinghorn, Burntisland, Aberdour, Dalgety Bay, and Inverkeithing, providing testing for all members of the public without COVID-19 symptoms.

Not everyone with COVID-19 has symptoms but they could still be infectious and be spreading the virus to others unknowingly. By providing testing for local communities and those in surrounding areas, people who are infectious can be identified and self-isolate, helping to reduce the spread of the virus.

Members of the public will be able to access community testing on a drop-in basis without the need for an appointment.

Confidential support will also be available at the sites, assisting anyone who may need to self-isolate.

Mobile community testing will be available at:

  • Kinghorn Community Centre – Mondays: 28 June, 5 July, 12 July
  • Links Car Park, Burntisland –Tuesdays: 22 June, 29 June, 6 July, 13 July
  • Aberdour Community Centre – Wednesdays: 23 June, 30 June, 7 July, 14 July
  • Dalgety Bay Leisure Centre – Thursdays: 24 June, 1 July, 8 July, 15 July
  • Civic Centre, Inverkeithing – Fridays: 25 June, 2 July, 9 July, 16 July

The sites will open from 09:00 to 15:30.

Duncan Fortescue-Webb, NHS Fife Consultant in Public Health and Testing Lead, said: “We encourage everyone to take up regular community testing. The mobile testing unit will move between Kinghorn, Burntisland, Aberdour, Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing over the next month, and is open to everyone living, working, or visiting in these areas.

“We know that around one in three people with COVID-19 don’t have symptoms but are still infectious and able to pass the virus on to loved ones, friends and the wider community.

“By getting tested regularly, you’ll be able to find out if you have the virus even if you feel fine. If you are positive you can then take immediate action to stop the spread of the virus to others by self-isolating.

“Support is also available to assist you and your household, from food parcels to financial advice and support.”

Additional community testing sites and home testing kit collection points are available across Fife, providing quick and easy access to testing.

All testing sites are safe and secure, with strict hygiene measures and staff to support people throughout the testing process.
