The new guide is launched
A Fife patient group has launched a new guide highlighting local advice and support available to patients, families and carers affected by stroke.
The ‘Life After Stroke’ guide has been created and produced by the Stroke Patient Participation Group (PPG), part of the Stroke Managed Clinical Network (MCN), to raise awareness of the wide range of activities and services available in Fife.
The guide brings together information on:
- Local services providing practical advice for patients and carers
- Support to help get out and about
- Activity and exercise options
- Accessible options for recreation and entertainment
- Useful local and national contacts
The group were inspired to create the guide following the success of an information booklet for heart patients produced by the Heart Disease Patient Participation Group.
Katrina McCormick, Stroke MCN Manager, said: “This is an excellent piece of work by our Patient Participation Group. Having details of the practical support that’s out there at both a local and national level will be of great use to stroke patients and their families across Fife.”
Neil Murray, from the Stroke Patient Participation Group, said: “Survivors can sometimes find themselves feeling isolated when they leave hospital after a stroke and may struggle to access the information they need.
“I hope that this leaflet goes some way to helping people in accessing the support and services which aids them in their recovery.”
The guide will be available to GP surgeries and healthcare departments across Fife. Further copies are also available by emailing email@example.com
