Appointment of Paul Hawkins as NHS Fife Chief Executive

NHS Fife is pleased to announce that Paul Hawkins has been appointed as its next Chief Executive.

He will take up the position following the retiral of Interim Chief Executive, Dr Brian Montgomery.

Paul is currently Chief Operating Officer at Hywel Dda University Health Board in Wales. In this role he directs an integrated health delivery system comprising four District General Hospitals, General Maternity Services, Mental Health and Community Services across three counties with a population of 400,000.

Prior to joining Hywel Dda University Health Board, Paul worked as Director of Operations (Planned Care) for Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust, a major London Trust providing acute services for a population of over half a million people.

Paul has a number of areas of particular interest, including patient safety, patient environment and integrated rural health services. Paul also has an MBA from Ashridge Business School.

“Paul has worked across a variety of areas and brings a great deal of experience to the post.

“I am sure he will rise to the challenge of ensuring NHS Fife continues to provide the highest standard of care to people across Fife.”

In accepting the appointment, Mr Hawkins said: “I am delighted to take on the role of Chief Executive of NHS Fife and look forward to working with the staff and partners to further improve health and social care services for the people of Fife.
