Within Fife there are nearly 22,000 people living with diabetes.  Depending on the patient’s needs they will receive their diabetes care from either primary or secondary care services.  The Diabetes Centre at Victoria Hospital and the Carnegie Unit, Queen Margaret Hospital offer a variety of diabetes clinics, podiatry clinics and diabetic retinal screening for both adults and paediatrics, as well as supporting the maternity unit.

There are many ongoing developments and technologies within the field of diabetes.  These include insulin pumps, closed loop systems (also known as artificial pancreas), continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), flash glucose monitoring and smartphone applications.    These technologies are commonly practiced at the diabetes centre with our team of experienced experts.
