The Oral Health Promotion division of the community dental service aims to reduce inequalities in and improve the oral health of those sections of the community with the greatest need.

It will do this by working with other agencies to help create supportive environments, influence policy decisions, develop personal skills and target resources aimed at preventing dental and oral disease.

Our health promotion work will follow the Scottish Government's Action Plan and the Fife Oral Health Strategic plan

Currently we are working with:

Care homes:

We support the Fife Oral Health Care Award

To see the progress we and the care homes are making go to this link

Schools:

We manage the 3 elements of Childsmile within NHS Fife which includes:

  • the core toothbrushing programme,
  • distribution of toothbrush packs to infants, pre-school children and Primary 1’s, and
  • the Scottish Government's new school preventative programme (childsmile schools)
