40 Anniversary Celebrations
Celebrating 40 Years: 1975 - 2015
This term our school marked 40 years of Catholic education and learning in the present school building. The school planned a number of celebrations, the most important one being Holy Mass, celebrated byArchbishop Leo Cushley, on Tuesday 15th of September. The mass was a joyful and uplifting occasion for the whole school family and invited guests. The children processed behind a new school cross which was decorated with the thumb prints of every member of the school family. Each colour represents a word from the school aims which best reflects each individual’s personal choice. The aims are built around the following key words; Kind, Happy, Love, Care, Fair, Respect.
A group of children from Primary 4 - Primary 7 also worked together to write the lyrics and compose the melody for a new school hymn. The group performed the hymn for the first time at the mass, with the whole school joining in with the chorus.Mikolaj accompanied the group on the piano.
Other events to celebrate the 40th Anniversary were; a Guided tour of the school led by pupils from P4-7 and an Anniversary Concert: celebrating 40 Years in music for parents, family members and friends. This was really well supported- thank you!
The school's celebrations were completed with the installation of astained glass window of Our Lady, which was one of a set of 6 windows created by the famous Scottish stained glass artist, Willie Wilson. The windows originated from the convent in Elie and the other 5 windows in the set are to be found in St. Margaret's RC Memorial Church, Dunfermline.
