Patients who have been referred by their GP with an Urgent Suspicion of Cancer or diagnosed with suspected cancer for urological cancers can access a Single Point to Contact Hub to keep them updated throughout their journey to exclude cancer.

There is strong evidence of increased patient uncertainty and anxiety due to challenged pathways and sometimes longer waits due to the pandemic.

The Single Point of Contact Hub will offer the following:

  • timely access for appointments (diagnostics, MDT, clinic, surgery)
  • signposting – clinical advice /support services.
  • timely access to appointments for follow-up post treatment
  • provision of Patient Pathway Information

The SPOCH seeks to improve cross-service communication by:

  • Improved patient experience
  • Fewer DNAs and/or wasted/duplicate appointments (i.e. clinical review before all necessary results available or extra scan being requested due to time between results, review and decision)
  • Fewer complaints
  • Clinical time saved
  • Possible improved process that contributes towards attainment of cancer waiting times
