The NHS Fife Art Collection has been gathered together over the last 50 years from a variety of donations, purchases and rentals. They are displayed in our hospitals and health centres across Fife. The artworks are created by both amateur and professional artists, using a wide range of media. Some are modern works, and others more traditional.
The benefits of displaying art in health care environments are widely recognised. Artwork can provide a calming and inspiring focal point in often sparse clinical areas, adding a splash of colour and vibrancy. Many of the artworks in the NHS Fife Art Collection reflect Fife's rural and industrial cultural heritage.
During the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020 St Andrews artist, Alan Stephens painted this tribute of NHS Fife staff and donated it to NHS Fife in recognition of the collective actions of the staff in treating patients.
