Bringing essential items to patients in hospital when families were unable to due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Items included toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, hand cream, nightwear, phone chargers and magazines and puzzle books.
“I and the rest of the team on the ward would like to thank everyone involved with the assistance and provision of these essential items during, what has been an extremely challenging time for both staff and patients. Whilst all wards offer a particular service which each bring their challenges, the individuals we receive are more often than not, in a state of crisis and experiencing significant acute mental health issues. Arriving without suitable clothing is common so you can imagine how regularly individuals may arrive without basic hygiene items, added to that, there were no visitors. I hope you can begin to appreciate how invaluable these supplies became. As well as the staff I know that the individuals who benefited from the items provided were extremely thankful, often not wanting to accept the whole array of items provided, expressing that this was too much and feeling undeserving. Once we were able to explain these had been gifted/provided/donated for them I cannot think of a single individual who was not truly thankful for the kindness and generosity shown to them. Thank you again to everyone, I hope that this can be cascaded to all involved and each and everyone can receive acknowledgement for whatever part they played.”
