NHS Fife is issuing an update after an individual with possible links to the nursery at Newburgh Primary School tested positive for COVID-19.
The positive case continues to have mild symptoms and is currently isolating at home with other household members.
While a link between the confirmed case and the nursery is being investigated, there is no evidence to suggest onward transmission within the nursery at this stage.
All close contacts from the nursery have been informed and asked to self isolate for 14 days.
Dr Esther Curnock, Deputy Director of Public Health, said:
“We understand that local people may be concerned , however, the risk of contracting coronavirus remains low.
“NHS Fife’s Test and Protect Team has identifed and traced those who have come into close contact with the positive case to provide appropriate public health support and advice.
“We continue to encourage anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, such as a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, to get tested using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal or by calling 0800 028 2816. Individuals can choose whether to attend one of the UK Government testing sites or request a home testing kit to be delivered to their home.”
A local online support hub has been created to provide information on testing for covid-19, and updates on the pandemic.
