Health Visiting Baby being measured

As everyone is no doubt aware, the current situation with the ongoing pandemic is currently impacting staffing levels in all areas of the NHS, and although the Health Visiting Service is still here to support you and your child, at this time we have to work differently to normal.

Your child's health and wellbeing is hugely important to us, and home visits will still be routinely offered between 11-14 days after birth, again at between 3 - 5 weeks and again at 6-8 weeks old. You may also be offered an 8 week medical review by your GP, which is different to the Health Visitor contact, so it’s useful to have both. Immunisations will continue to take place and you will be sent an appointment letter from the immunisation team.

Unfortunately, all other routine visits, as outlined in your child’s red book may not always be possible, however, if you have any concerns regarding your child’s wellbeing or development please do not hesitate to contact us. The number for your Health Visitor will be in your child’s red book. Information can also be found on the ParentClub website: https://www.parentclub.scot/

If you are receiving support from the Breastfeeding Support Service this also continues to be available to you during this time.
