Scottish Families

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs has presented an overview of its work in Fife to the NHS Fife Board, highlighting the vital role the organisation plays in supporting families impacted by substance use.

The presentation provided a comprehensive update on local initiatives designed to strengthen family resilience and support recovery across communities. These included peer support groups in Glenrothes, family recovery workshops in Levenmouth, and a new collaborative programme with NHS Fife addiction services aimed at embedding trauma-informed family engagement in clinical settings.

Scottish Families also showcased the reach and impact of their national helpline, local outreach efforts, and targeted resources designed to break down stigma and ensure families feel supported, informed, and connected.

The NHS Fife Board welcomed the opportunity to learn more about the charity’s contribution to the wider health and care system. In response, the Board committed to strengthening collaboration with Scottish Families through integrated support pathways, joint community engagement, and exploring sustainable funding options for local family-focused services.

The presentation served as a reminder of the importance of whole-family approaches to recovery and the value of lived experience in shaping responsive, compassionate care.
