Question:
A comment is sought on criticism that NHS Fife is still 'developing' its chaperone policy after FOI requests in both September and March revealed it was still not ready.
Scottish Conservative shadow equalities minister Tess White MSP said: “It is shocking NHS Fife still doesn’t have this policy in place to support women when they are undergoing intimate care.
“It is yet another dereliction of duty by the health board when it comes to the physical and psychological safety of women and girls. It’s abundantly clear NHS Fife still hasn’t learned any lessons.
“Chaperones can act as a vital safeguard when women are at their most vulnerable, which is why SNP ministers must urgently act to ensure health boards have the necessary policies in place to keep women and girls safe.”

Response:
A spokesperson for NHS Fife said: “NHS Fife takes the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of all patients extremely seriously, particularly during intimate examinations or procedures when individuals may feel most vulnerable.
“While a formal policy has still to be finalised, women in Fife continue to have access to a chaperone during any intimate care or treatment and this is already well-embedded across our clinical services. Our staff are trained and expected to discuss the availability of a chaperone with patients sensitively and proactively, and to ensure this offer is clearly documented.
“NHS Fife remains committed to providing safe, respectful, and person-centred care for all patients.”
