Fife Health Charity has published its 2024–2025 Impact Report, showcasing a year of transformative projects that have supported patients, NHS staff, and communities across Fife.
With over half a million pounds awarded in grants, and a significant increase in the number of grants awarded compared to the the previous year, the charity continues to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
From bereavement support for families and young people, to cutting-edge simulation training for NHS staff, the report highlights the breadth and depth of the charity’s work.
Among the projects supported this year was a partnership between NHS Fife’s maternity services and the baby loss charity Held in our Hearts, which provided vital home-based support to 36 bereaved families, helping them navigate grief with compassion and care. The Young People’s Resilience Project offered outdoor bereavement support sessions at Falkland Estate, helping teenagers cope with the loss of a parent or loved one while building resilience and peer connection in a natural setting.
The Simulation and Training Centre at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline trained over 2,600 participants in 2024 - almost double the number from the previous year. The centre delivered innovative programmes including virtual reality medical simulation and multi-agency emergency response training.
Newly refurbished rooms in the Neonatal Unit now offer a peaceful, comfortable space for parents of premature babies, supporting vital bonding and emotional wellbeing. Additionally, more NHS Fife staff are now trained to offer emotional support to colleagues following critical incidents, thanks to the charity’s investment in peer support training. This initiative is helping to strengthen team resilience and wellbeing across the organisation.
Reflecting on the year, Charity Director, Mark McGeachie said: “Together, our small efforts can create lasting change, fostering a healthier and brighter future for everyone in Fife. This report is just a snapshot of the incredible work made possible by our supporters, NHS colleagues, and community partners. Every penny donated in Fife stays in Fife - and the report demonstrates that its impact is clear.”
