Being able to manage our emotions is important for our mental wellbeing. A term used to describe how we do this is “emotion regulation”. Knowing how to regulate our emotions can help to reduce distress in difficult or challenging situations.

Emotion regulation is a skill that we can learn by developing and using strategies that help us to recognise, name and accept our emotions. This helps us to control our responses when we’re stressed, angry or upset and improves our overall mental health and wellbeing.
