“Neurodevelopment” is about the way the brain develops and how it works in our everyday life. Everyone’s brain develops slightly differently - this is part of what makes us unique and gives each of us different strengths.
Neurodevelopmental difference is a term that covers a wide range of conditions such as Autism, ADHD, tics, learning difficulties and intellectual disabilities.
Neurodevelopmental differences are not mental health difficulties - they are part of the natural variation in the way our brains are wired. However, people with neurodevelopmental differences can be more likely to experience mental health difficulties.
The Fife Neurodevelopmental Hub has lots of resources for families and young people.
