The Meningococcal B (MenB) vaccine for protection against gonorrhoea

The MenB vaccine is being offered to those at increased risk of gonorrhoea.

Gonorrhoea diagnoses in Scotland remain high. Gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men are at increased risk of catching and passing on the infection. The MenB vaccine is now being offered to help protect against gonorrhoea. The latest information can be found at:

Postal - STI Self Sampling Kits

You can test for the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) on your own rather than going to a sexual health clinic if you do not have symptoms. This is known as self-sampling. If done correctly, it can be just as reliable as getting tested at a sexual health clinic. To order a postal testing kit for gonorrhea and chlamydia, please call our appointment line.

  • When you call, the receptionist will ask if your partners are male, female or both. This is so that we know what testing kit to send you.

  • The testing kits are discreetly packaged and should be small enough to fit through your letterbox.

  • There are only a limited number of testing kits available each week. If there are no more available when you try to order, please try again the following week.

Terrence Higgins Trust offer postal tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to gay and bisexual men living in Fife. These can be ordered online by clicking the link below.

Window period of 14 days

It is important to remember that there is a testing 'window period' for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea which is 14 days. This means Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea may not be picked up in a test which is taken within 14 days of contracting the infection. It is recommended therefore that you wait for 14 days after a sexual contact that you are concerned about, and then take the test.
