About me
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery, with experience in advanced surgical techniques and enhanced recovery protocols. In addition to joint replacements, I offer some non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures such as joint injections and knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) for the treatment of joint conditions and injuries.
I am committed to delivering the highest standards of patient-centred care and have always aimed to combine a tailored clinical approach with compassion. My NHS practice is based at the National Treatment Centre and Victoria Hospital within NHS Fife, where I provide treatment for patients with hip and knee conditions, as well as injuries affecting the skeleton, muscle and skin.
I graduated from Aberdeen University and completed orthopaedic training through the North of Scotland Orthopaedic Training Programme. My surgical skillset was further refined during the prestigious John Charnley Specialist Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital, a world-renowned centre for pioneering hip replacement surgery, and a unit that performs approximately 3000 hip and knee replacements each year. I also completed a travelling fellowship in robotic hip and knee replacement, an area I believe plays a transformative role in improving patient care.
Beyond my day-to-day clinical practice, I am Governance Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery within NHS Fife. I am an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Dundee. I serve as a Member of Council for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, contributing to the advancement of surgical education and professional standards. I am also an examiner for the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) exam and a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers.
