Kinship care is where children who are not able to live with their parents are raised by family members or friends. Kinship carers can be grandparents, uncles, aunts, older brothers and sisters or other adults who have a connection to the children.

In Scotland , the law assumes that a young person aged 12 years or over can make their own decisions about their health care unless there is a reason to suggest that they cannot.
The School Nursing Health Hub respects young people’s right to confidentiality and therefore will not share any information unless they have a concern about the young person’s safety or feel there at risk .
In these instances the health practitioner will share their concerns with the young person and inform them that they will have to follow Child Protection Procedures
