An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Charge Nurse to join the team within the Urology Diagnostic and Treatment Centre. NHS Fife has been awarded funding from Scottish Government to develop a National Treatment Centre for the prostate service; an increase in nursing workforce, is required to support this development.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and efficiently. We think this is an excellent opportunity for an existing band 5 or band 6 first level registered nurse with relevant post registration experience.
The role will combine supporting the Senior Charge Nurse in the management of the department, implementation of the National Treatment Centre and also in the delivery of high quality care to the patients. You will be required to demonstrate your ability to lead by example in the delivery of holistic patient care and be able to cascade this knowledge to other colleagues. You will be required to demonstrate your understanding of the key issues in ward management and be able to step up to this challenging position.
The role involves supporting the clinicians to undertake their clinics by assisting with prostate biopsies, flexible cystoscopies, administration of bladder treatments such as botox, and use of other urological assessment tools. You will also be responsible for running the nurse led clinics, undertaking tasks such as bladder instillations, catheter changes, trial without catheter (TWOC), and flow & scans.
Candidates should be enthusiastic, dynamic, caring and compassionate, with a keen interest in urological nursing. You should be self motivated, and strive to deliver high quality patient focused care.
Experience
Experience within a urology or outpatient setting is desirable, although not essential, as supervision and support will be available to orientate you into the role. Opportunity will also be available to rotate into Ward 54 (Urology) to gain further acute urological experience

The Urology diagnostic and Treatment Centre are based across both Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital, and the National Treatment Centre will be based in Queen Margaret Hospital. It is expected to work across both sites to meet the demands of the service.
The Urology service has led the way in delivering an innovative and excellent service, as well as providing a wide range of urological diagnostic and treatments, the service has been pivotal in implementing new treatments for the management of benign prostate issues, this has enabled NHS Fife the opportunity to expand this service nationally throughout Scotland, thus ensuring inclusivity across the nation.
