Our usual recruitment process includes a number of steps;

Application form

Please contact us at fife.volunteers@nhs.scot.

Informal interview

We will get in touch with you to arrange an informal interview to chat over your application and the role you are interested in.

Reference checks

We will look to obtain a reference, this can be a character or work reference.

Disclosure Scotland or PVG check

Depending upon the type of role you are interested in undertaking, we may need to seek a Disclosure Scotland check or PVG scheme membership on your behalf. There is no cost to our volunteers for this.

Occupational health check

As with our NHS Fife employees we ask that our volunteers receive an occupational health assessment prior to placement to ensure the health and safety of our volunteers.

Induction and training

Each volunteer will have to complete some basic essential training such as health and safety and infection control. Some roles may have additional training requirements such as dementia friendly training. We look to support our volunteers by providing relevant and ongoing training throughout placements.
Upon successful completion of the recruitment process we coordinate placement of our new volunteers, ensuring continued local support throughout and regular review.

This process can take in the region of 14 weeks from start to finish.
