Fife Health & Social Care Partnership is asking unpaid carers to create a plan to help prevent an emergency from becoming a crisis during this challenging time.
Unpaid carers play a crucial role helping the most vulnerable people in our communities. Many will face difficulties providing their normal levels of care and support if they become unwell or self-isolating. An emergency plan provides vital insights for others coming in to help and describes the caring situation and the relationships that make it work. Providing this information will ensure the person they are caring for receives the care they are used to.
David Heaney, Fife Health and Social Partnership Divisional General Manager said:
"We have developed a toolkit for carers to create their own emergency plan - go to bit.ly/careremergencyplan.
Once you have written your emergency plan, it is important that you share it with others in your caring circle. It's also a good idea to put a copy of the plan somewhere obvious – in a letter rack or pinned to a kitchen notice board. We recommend that you put a copy in your own home and in the home of the person you care for.
In addition, we have teamed up with Carers UK to offer carers in Fife access to a new app called 'Jointly'. It makes caring for someone a little easier, less stressful and a lot more organised by making communication and coordination simpler between those who are sharing the care.
