Following Scottish Ministers confirmation of the presence of avian flu H5N1 in a breeding gamebird farm near Leven, we’re reminding local people not to touch or pick up any dead birds that they come across.

While the risk to human health from avian flu is very low, please be extra vigilant if you take part in water-based activities such as wild swimming, canoeing, kayaking or boating, and report anything that is untoward.

If you do find a wild bird, such as a swan, duck or gull, this should be reported to Defra on 03459 33 55 77.
