It is recognised from NHS Education for Scotland’s NMAHP development framework that those working at levels 2 to 4 are essential to support the valuable contribution they make to the team in providing safe, effective and person-centred care. Developing the right people with the right skills and the right values is recognised as a key priority to enable the sustainable delivery of health services.  Leadership is one of the most influential factors in shaping organisational culture, ensuring the necessary leadership behaviours, strategies and qualities are developed.

The NHS needs high quality leaders at every level and in every area to ensure that it can deliver high quality compassionate care to the people it serves.
