Adult protection training

Two healthcare worker's in a corridor

Course Description

In Scotland, the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 is designed to safeguard adults from various forms of harm.  NHS Fife is committed to the support and protection of adults who may be at risk of harm. Harm includes physical, financial, sexual or psychological abuse, neglect or discrimination, self-harm and self-neglect. The act has key principles; with the focus on being the least restrictive and that any intervention should benefit the adult.

There is a duty for local councils to make reasonable and balanced interventions on behalf of the adult and highlights the importance of partnership working requiring collaboration among NHS and H&SC partnerships to ensure effective adult support and protection services.
