Course Description
This programme is for all Healthcare Practitioners band 3 and above involved in the care and maintenance of venous access devices. This programme aims to ensure the Healthcare Practitioner gains the required knowledge to care for a patient with a venous access device. This programme will replace the existing model of face to face training and will consist of an education pack and work based skill acquisition to attain competence.
This clinical skills programme will support Healthcare Practitioners in their studying, enabling them to work at their own pace while learning about care and maintenance of venous access devices in the context of their own practice.
It may be appropriate following a patient assessment by a Registered Practitioner for the care and maintenance (only) of venous access devices to be delegated to a Band 3 and above that has successfully completed the relevant NHS Fife approved training programme.
Prior requirements
Healthcare Practitioners must successfully complete The NHS Fife care and maintenance of venous access devices education pack.
The self declaration form process must be followed for this course.
