Urinalysis and collection of mid-stream specimen of urine for HCSW self-directed education pack

Course Description

This programme is for Healthcare Practitioners band 2 and above and aims to provide the Healthcare Practitioner with the knowledge required to safely and competently collect a mid-stream specimen of urine and perform a urinalysis.

This programme will support Healthcare Practitioners in their studying, enabling them to work at their own pace while learning about urinalysis and collection of mid-stream specimen of urine in the context of their own practice.

It may be appropriate following a patient assessment having been undertaken by a Registered Healthcare Practitioner for urinalysis and collection of mid-stream specimen of urine to be delegated to a band 2 and above, who has successfully completed the relevant aspects of an NHS Fife approved training programme.

Healthcare Practitioners must successfully complete the urinalysis and collection of mid-stream specimen of urine education pack.

Prior requirements

The self declaration form process must be followed for this course.

In addition to completion of the work booklet, Healthcare Practitioners must also complete a number of course prior requirements (pre-requisites) listed opposite.
