Access the service

The Occupational Therapists are always happy to speak to anyone who has questions about a child/young person. We recommended you contact either the parental advice line or professional’s enquiry line prior to making a request for assistance to avoid unnecessary waits for support.

We recommend that you also have a look at our resources section for strategies.

Do you have questions about how your child / a child you work with plays, enjoys hobbies, manages at school or looks after themselves (e.g. physical abilities, attention, sensory differences)?

Call the Children's Services Phoneline and speak directly with an Occupational Therapist.

For advice call

Tel: 01592 226699

Tuesdays 10am –12pm (noon) and Wednesdays 2– 4pm

There are various ways in which support might be offered. These could include:

  • Providing reassurance, advice and support
  • Providing information e.g. health promotion, self management
  • Signposting to other services / community resources / groups
  • Consultation Session (e.g. face to face, video conferencing or telephone)
  • Assessment and intervention

This information can then be shared with key individuals in the child/young person’s life as appropriate.

Request for assistance form

With appropriate consent, Requests for Assistance to Children and Young People’s Occupational Therapy Service can be made by anyone who has concerns including parents / carers, school staff and Health and Social Care professionals. Your request will be reviewed by an Occupational Therapist and you will be contacted to discuss next steps. The purpose of this is to gather information to identify what help you feel you need and how we might be able to help.

Request for assistance form
