Do you know about Clare’s Law

‘Clare’s Law’ or Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) as known officially is a police policy giving people the right to know if their current or ex-partner has any previous history of violence or abuse. The purpose of providing information to people is to allow them to make an informed decision about their situation when they may be at risk in a relationship.

You can make the request on behalf of yourself or about someone else if you are worried about a close friend, neighbour or family member (right to ask).

The police may decide to be proactive and share information with you if they believe you may be at risk (right to know).

For more details on how to make an application including the form please visit the Police Scotland Website: Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland - Police Scotland
