Our team
We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of surgeons, consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, healthcare support staff and non clinical support staff. Our surgical team of over 22 orthopaedic surgeons and consultants are supported by a wider clinical team and support staff.
We are justly proud of our team who consistently attract positive feedback from patients and who strive to bring the best possible care to the people of Fife.
We are humbled by the positive feedback that we receive via Care Opinion from patients that have completed their treatment with us.
I noticed a very strong and positive team culture within the NTC from start to finish of my patient journey. Whilst each team member focussed on their own particular skillbase I could see that they looked upon their individual roles as one of responsibility and certainly not status.
Our department
Planned care
Our planned care is delivered from the National Treatment Centre, Fife Orthopaedics. This is a purpose-built facility which serves the population of Fife and Lothian based in the grounds of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
In addition, our Day Surgery Unit at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline specialises in planned and emergency hand, foot, knee and shoulder operations.
We also run Outpatient clinics across all of our sites, in the Victoria Hospital, The National Treatment Centre and in our Day Surgery Unit in Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.
Emergency (trauma) care
Our emergency (trauma) service is based at the Victoria Hospital in Ward 33, where we specialise in trauma and fractures for those aged under 65, and Ward 31, which is home of our specialist orthopaedic Care of the Elderly team who deals with specialist hip fractures and frailty for those aged over 65.
You may be admitted to any other surgical bed based on availability.
