Partner experiences

This page is where we share stories from birth partners who have lived experience of Home Birthing with the intention of helping inform and support partners of women considering a homebirth as an option.

Overall pleasant and relaxed experience for our family

My partner had our second child at home as she was determined our second child was going to be a home birth after she wanted to have our first at home but couldn’t due to her having a C-section.

The midwife where great with a lot of information about a Vbac after a C-section as they say there could be a lot of complications but they went through everything and put our mind right at ease they were with us every step of the way, from surgeon appointments to at home appointments they made us feel so comfortable and became part of my partner’s pregnancy journey and helped her through any issues she had. When they came to our home for my partner’s check-up, it was nice for the kids to hear the baby’s hearbeat and feel involved with being a sibling.

They arrived the day of my partner’s birth so calm and collected it was nice to see the relationship my partner had with the midwife when she was in labour and the support they gave me. They helped me to calm my partner down at times throughout her labour I could not fault the Birth at home birth team.  They came at 9:30am and baby was born at 12:30am.  They let us have our time and did not interfere with the birthing process they stayed for a few hours after and made sure my partner and baby were okay. They then came in the day after and had a few other follow up appointments and it was lovely to see how much support my partner had from the team. They are great at what they do it was an overall pleasant and relaxed experience for our family.
