Stage 1 | Referral to service
You will be referred to the orthopaedic department by A&E, minor injuries service or your GP.
Stage 2 | Urgent assessment
As an urgent patient, you’ll be seen straight away and in many cases be admitted to the childrens ward for further assessment and probable surgery
Stage 3 | Non urgent assessment
Non-urgent trauma patients who need further orthopaedic review will be added to the Virtual Fracture clinic in the following days. Some patients do not require any further intervention or follow up after their A&E/Minor injuries attendance. Many patients can be discharged home from A&E/Minor injuries with patient information and self care management advice.
Stage 4 | Fracture clinic appointment
If required, you’ll be asked to attend a face-to-face clinic to discuss further steps in the management of your injury and or condition.
Stage 5 | Treatment and follow up care
You may be required to return for further treatments and or procedures or for a simple post surgery check up.
