This service includes diagnosis and treatment of:

  • impacted teeth
  • dental infection
  • facial trauma
  • salivary gland disease
  • cysts and tumours of the jaws
  • head and neck cancers
  • facial deformity
  • disease of the oral mucosa

OMFS also work with other specialists including orthodontists, ear nose and throat (ENT) surgeons and plastic surgeons. The speciality is unique in that all consultants require dual qualification in both dentistry and medicine. 

The department is made up of:

  • three Consultants 
  • one Associate Specialist 
  • four Specialty Doctors  
  • four Clinical Fellows 
  • four OMFS Dental Nurses/HCSW 
  • three Secretarial staff 

Treatment and clinics are provided at three sites across Fife:

  • Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy 
  • Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline
  • Adamson Hospital, St Andrews
