The eye, its surrounding structures and the visual system can be affected by a number of clinical conditions. Ophthalmology involves diagnosis and therapy of such conditions, along with microsurgery.

Accessible formats
To access this service you must have a referral. The common referral pathways are via your general practitoner, your optician or hospital emergency services.
The NHS Fife eye care services are primarily run from the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline; however we also have clinics based in the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and the Adamson Hospital in Cupar.

The main eye care services run between the hours of 9am and 5pm. There is an on- call out-of-hours service running 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
